At the festival site
FOOD OFFER
You will not make it through four days of Rock Werchter without the occasional solid bite. On the festival ground, various food stalls cater for your needs. Close to the Pyramid Marquee, you will find the biggest diversity. Apart from the traditional pack of French fries/chips or hamburger, you can also opt for a slice of pizza, a sandwich, Vietnamese spring rolls, a vegetarian and/or exotic dish, a salad, some fruit, a waffle... and of course a mixed assortment of ice creams for those who look on the sunny side of life.
DRINKS
It is even more important to look after your fluid balance. So drink enough fluids! All over the festival ground you will find drink stalls, offering a wide range of beverages. A number of specialised stalls also offer coffee, milk or fruit juice.
Rock Werchter supports the 'Respect16' campaign of the Belgian Brewers.

BEVERAGE TICKET PRESALE
A beverage ticket will cost 2.5 Euros during the festival. A beverage ticket costs 2.25 Euros if bought in advance. Beverage tickets can be ordered through Proximus Go For Music, Tele Ticket Service and KBC's Ticket Shop.
On the site, there can be paid for beverage and food tickets in cash or with Bancontact and Maestro. Proton and credit cards (Visa, Mastercard...) are not accepted.
Beverage tickets are pre-sold in the guise of ‘drink vouchers’. These vouchers come with a unique bar code, which is scanned at the beverage ticket outlets on the festival ground, after which the buyer is given the required number of tickets.
RECYCLING
During the festival, Coca-Cola and InBev do uphold the traditional recycling scheme. As always, 20 empty plastic cups are worth one beverage ticket if exchanged.
Once again, KBC will put up a number of cash dispensers on the festival ground and at the information booth at the bridge of Werchter. These dispensers accept both Belgian and foreign bank cards. Furthermore, KBC will also set up a mobile bank office on the festival ground.
Our toilets have always been free of charge. So use them and spare fences and sponsor booths of your natural irrigation.
Use Safelockers and keep your hands free during the whole festival! Every year, Rock Werchter continues to improve the quality of the festival for visitors. Therefore, we are providing optimal protection, so that you can keep your possessions under lock and key for one day, or for the entire duration of the festival. And to do that, we will be using SAFELOCKERS.
Safelockers are convenient lockers where you can store your things. Not just clothes, but a motorcycle helmet, for example. The Safelockers are set up at 2 places on the festival site:
- On the right-hand side, next to the main entrance
- On the 2nd site near the food stalls
- Store clothing and other possessions securely each day of the festival;
- You hire your personal Safelocker and get your own unique key;
- No need to worry about loss or theft of objects or clothing during the festival;
- The Safelockers will be under supervision;
- You will be able to walk around more easily and with less to carry, because your possessions are safely locked away;
- You can get at your stuff at any time;
- Visitors who came by motorbike, moped or cycle can store their helmets securely;
- If you are not sure about the weather (rain, cold, heat) just take the right clothes with you and put those you don’t need in the Safelocker;
- You can easily fit jackets/pullovers for 2 to 3 people in one Safelocker (so it is very cheap).The Safelockers are accessible every festival day during the festival hours
- Per DAY LOCKER, you pay 5 € rental for one day of the festival, plus 5€ deposit.
For a FESTIVAL LOCKER (for 4 days) you pay 15€ plus 5€ deposit. Of course, you get your deposit back once you return the key. - ATTENTION : Day Lockers are emptied every night!
When you enter the festival grounds you may be searched. If you refuse, you will not be allowed to enter.

In collaboration with Intro, Rock Werchter puts in a great effort to make Rock Werchter accessible to the disabled. So we have paid a lot of attention to the accessibility of the festival site and its surroundings:
- There is an alternative, accessible and less crowded entrance for people with a disability. Two persons are allowed to accompany him/her through this entrance.
- Both at the Main Stage and the Marquee we have provided viewing platforms for wheelchair users, people with crutches... with a grandstand view of the performing artists. Because we would like allow as many disabled people as possible, only one friend/carer will be allowed to assist the disabled festivalgoer on the platform. There is a dedicated camp site for disabled persons close to the festival site.
- Friends, acquaintances, relatives… of the disabled person are also welcome to join him/her on this camp site.
- Adapted toilets are situated in locations all over the festival site and in the disabled camping area.
- There is a service tent in the disabled camping area, where you can leave/pick up your wheelchair, there are adapted washing basins and aids like a hoist, a nursing bed and a toilet chair...
- If you have a (blue) European disabled badge and you think you will get into trouble when you cannot come close to the festival entrance, please get in touch with Intro.
- Throughout the festival, you can always call on ADD staff for assistance, free of charge. This may include: pitching your tent, toilet, moving and eating assistance...
- Do not hesitate to talk to an ADD assistant, whenever you require assistance. You can find them on the festival site (at the viewing platforms) and in the dedicated camping area.
- We will also look for a solution whenever you have problem with your wheelchair or another aid.
Attention: If you have a valid festival ticket and you wish to use our ADD facilities or apply for a parking card or another permit, please remember that we need to receive your enquiry before Wednesday June 17th.

Overheating is a serious problem during festivals. Protect yourself from the nasty effects of sun, go stand/sit in the shade regularly and chill on time! Sweating causes you to dehydrate. So drink enough fluids to take care of your fluid balance. Always keep an eye on your friends and have your mobile phone with you. This is a good start to avoid problems. Should you ever get in trouble, try to stay calm and tell your friends you are not feeling well. Ask help from security people or go to a first-aid post before things run out of hand. Of course you know that drugs are not allowed at Rock Werchter. Should you still decide to use illegal substances, do not mix! Each person reacts differently to drugs and the effects are really unpredictable. Go easy on the alcohol, energy drinks and drugs, which all have a dehydrating effect. So make sure to drink water or soft drinks regularly. Drink plenty of water before you go to bed in order to avoid the hangover from hell! Have a healthy breakfast, which is the ideal start of a new festival day. Avoid a liquid (read: beer) breakfast. Non-stop partying takes its toll. Make sure to eat healthy food on a regular base during Rock Werchter. Avoid fast food and think of your vitamin balance. Healthy food is all around you on the festival ground and in nearby streets. Always have condoms with you. You never know who might end up in your tent. Check out www.partywise.be before you leave and find all the info you need to turn Rock Werchter 2009 into an unforgettable experience! Partywise, a way of festival life!
- An explicit ban on crowd surfing
Just like previous years, Werchter has, like every other big festival in Europe, issued an explicit ban on crowd surfing. People who ignore this rule will be removed from the field. The reasons for this ban are crystal clear: people in the front rows will be able to enjoy the shows without constantly having to protect their heads and limbs, overall pleasantness and safety will increase, and the risk for injuries will be considerably lower.
- Other package of measures to increase the safety
- Safety corridors:
Just like the previous years the same constructions will be installed in front of the stages to improve the visitors’ comfort and safety. The fact that these systems are now also used at other major festivals in Europe proves that we played a pioneering role.
The safety corridors are made of a solid construction of freestanding barriers, which allow safety personnel and emergency services to carry out possible evacuations or interventions way out in the crowd without disturbing the rest of the crowd. They are installed in a way that they also absorb part of the crowd’s forward and sideway pressure. - The floor
To avoid slippery and muddy surfaces in times of heavy rainfall, a rubber stud floor will be constructed in front of the main stage. In front of the side stage, there will be a wooden floor. - Video screen
On the side of both stages gives people in the back the possibility to enjoy and to see what is happening on the stage. So you don't have to stand in front to fully enjoy the festival.
