ROCK WERCHTER FOR CHARITY
VZW Rozemarijn is a small, local, dynamic, Belgian non-profit organisation, which offers its services to challenged adults. Tailor-made care is the key word. As we speak, 43 people are supported. But there is an enormous lack of reception facilities for challenged adults. Therefore, VZW Rozemarijn is building a new reception facility for 25 residents in the town of Haacht. But this requires about 1,000,000 Euros of proper means. ‘Kris en Yves gaan bouwen’ (Kris and Yves are building) is the slogan for the large-scale fund-raising campaign.
Rock Werchter supports the initiative, not only by making a contribution, but also by opening an art studio in the artist village during the upcoming festival. All performing artists will be asked to share their creative talent with us, doing whatever they feel like to masks, designed by a young plastic artist called Jorgen Missotten, or to personalise canvasses. The artists' creations will be put up for auction by Mon Bernaerts, of the Antwerp-based firm of auctioneers of the same name, on 22 October. All proceeds of this auction will go to VZW Rozemarijn. By setting up this event, Rock Werchter hopes to bring the dream of a local and dynamic organisation a bit closer to reality.
